The Winter Above

Above the Preserved Lands the range climbs past any use. Nothing is grazed there, nothing is mined, nothing is garrisoned, and no power on the continent has drawn a border across it — an omission four separate cartographic traditions have made independently.
The cold is out of season by a great deal, and the northern histories say it has been so since the year the world broke. Older maps than those histories also leave the range blank.
The Covenant last sent men up in 1890 AH. One came back, and could not say what for.
