Every other entry in this book was something else first. This one was not — and the compiler of this volume wishes to state plainly that she does not know how she knows that, only that every source she consulted agrees, and that not one of them cites another.
It holds no ground below the snowline, takes no tribute, and has never been known to want. All four powers avoid the northern range. Not one of them has ever explained the arrangement, and the librarian notes that this is the only subject on which all four are silent in the same way.
